Day 1 - Torzhok city sightseeing tour. Gold Embroidery Museum Tour
07:00 Bus pick-up from Moskovskaya metro station (Demonstration passage).
07:30 Departure of the bus. Highway tour. Everyday stops.
Arrival in Torzhok at about 13:00.
13:00 Lunch at the Bierhoff cafe with fireman's cutlets.
The origin of the name Pozharsky cutlets is associated with Evdokim Pozharsky, the owner of the Pozharskaya tavern and hotel in Torzhok in the early 19th century. Initially, the cutlets were supposedly prepared from veal.
They acquired their modern appearance in the 1830s and 1840s already under Daria Pozharskaya, who inherited her father's tavern. There is a version that the recipe for chicken cutlets was given to the innkeeper by an unfortunate Frenchman who could not otherwise pay for the shelter and thus helped this woman make a fortune.
Chicken cutlets are really a delicious dish! Anyway, one day Daria Pozharskaya treated Emperor Nicholas I, who was passing through Torzhok, with her chicken cutlets. He liked the cutlets so much that later he invited the innkeeper to the royal court more than once.
After Daria's death, the Pozharsky family business gradually declined. However, the fate of her signature cutlets turned out better: they became a typical dish of Russian cuisine, widely known both in Russia and abroad.
14:00 Excursion to the Museum of Gold Embroidery. Torzhok is the only Russian city that has managed to preserve this ancient art to the present day. The museum's exhibits reflect the history and current state of Torzhok gold embroidery and other types of folk hand and machine embroidery.
Sightseeing tour of the city. Torzhok is one of the oldest cities in the Upper Volga region. Numerous architectural monuments of the XVII-XIX centuries have been preserved in the city, among them: the wooden church of the Ascension of the XVII century, the Traveling Palace, built under Catherine the Great.
As well as the Borisoglebsky Monastery complex, the Transfiguration Cathedral, architectural masterpieces of the XVIII century by N.A. Lviv with the only monument to the great architect in Russia, numerous residential buildings in the classical style.

Day 2 - Getting to know the city of Staritsa. New Year's Eve Tver City Tour
Late breakfast.
Departure to the amazing Staritsa, an ancient Russian city located on two banks of the Volga River (75 km). Orthodox shrines, forges, a settlement, and merchant houses remind of the past of the appanage principality of Staritsky.
It is curious that the locals call the 2 parts of the city "that" and "this" side, and there is never any confusion between them!
During the tour of Staritsa, you will learn about the tragic fate of the Staritsa princes, and about the first Russian Patriarch of all Russia Job, and about Ivan the Terrible, who loved the Old Woman so much that he called her "Lyubim-Gorod", and that the white stone Rus was first called by the light hand of the old inhabitants.
After all, it was here in the 13th century that the amazing "Staritsky marble" began to be mined – white limestone, which was used to build not only the Moscow Kremlin, but also many other Volga cities.

The main one is the Holy Dormition Monastery, a rare example of ancient Russian architecture, striking in its grandeur, harmony and perfection.
12:30 Guided tour to the Bakery Museum. The museum is a member of the Association of Private Museums of Russia and is dedicated to the history, culture and traditions of baking: from biscuits and waffles to cakes and bread.
The museum is filled with a variety of devices for bakery culinary delights. There are exhibits from various eras, including homemade items that were used by our ancestors.
Some of them are authentic, antique, worn out by the hands of more than one generation of peasants, others are made in our time using old technology.
13:45 Lunch.
Return to Tver. Evening tour "New Year's Tver". Tver will remind someone of St. Petersburg: in the center there is the same three-beam avenue as in the Northern Capital. Over the past 200 years, the historical center of Tver has hardly changed.
The "European" bias in new construction was reflected in the saying that appeared in the second half of the 19th century. "Tver is a town, a corner of St. Petersburg," and Catherine II herself wrote that "Tver is the most beautiful city after St. Petersburg."
It was from Tver that the Russian traveler, writer and Tver merchant Afanasy Nikitin set out on the "journey across the three seas".

Visit to the Tver Goat Museum. Why a Goat? Yes, because a goat is not just an animal. It is a well-deserved symbol of the city, as well as an inexhaustible source for creativity. The museum's subject matter extends far beyond Tver heraldry and historical facts.
You will see a lot of figurines, flags, souvenirs, symbols from domestic regions and foreign countries, all these exhibits are somehow dedicated to Goats. By the way, the museum provides special prices for tourists from Kozlovs, Baranovs and Volkovs!
Excursion to the Tver Princess's Palace, the Imperial Travel Palace. Built by personal decree of Empress Catherine the Great, the palace was intended for the recreation of royalty on their way from St. Petersburg to Moscow.
Later, it became the permanent residence of the "Tver Princess", the daughter of Emperor Paul I, Grand Duchess Ekaterina Pavlovna (the future Princess of Oldenburg), whose hand and heart even Napoleon claimed!
Emperor Alexander came to admire the Tver Travel Palace, Karamzin read his "History of the Russian State" here, composer Glinka and poet Zhukovsky were guests.
You will admire the magnificent interiors of the palace, a valuable collection of furniture and masterpieces of decorative and applied art from the time of Catherine II, as well as a magnificent collection of paintings from the Art Gallery, including a rare collection of paintings by Venetsianov and his students.
