Itinerary

Day 1 - Pereslavl-Zalessky. Yaroslavl. Transfer to Vologda
07:00 Gathering of the group: VDNKh metro station to the right of the Kosmos Hotel.
07:15 Departure to Pereslavl-Zalessky. Travel sightseeing tour of the city – the birthplace of Alexander Nevsky and the cradle of the Russian navy.
The heart of Pereslavl is Red Square. Those who, upon learning about this, exclaim: "As in Moscow!", will only be mistaken in the direction. This is the main square of Moscow, which got its name several centuries later in imitation of Pereslavskaya!
A living confirmation of local antiquity is the Transfiguration Cathedral, founded by Yuri Dolgoruky in 1152. This is the oldest building in northeastern Russia that has survived to the present day.
Departure to Yaroslavl.
Sightseeing tour of Yaroslavl, the "Capital of the Golden Ring", which will introduce you to the history of the thousand-year-old city and its modern way of life.
You will see the arrow of the Volga and Kotorosli rivers – the place where Yaroslavl began. Take a walk along the picturesque Volga embankment, explore the Assumption Cathedral, recreated for the 1000th anniversary of the city.
Admire the unique architectural ensemble of the central part of Yaroslavl (protected by UNESCO) and its pearls – churches of the 17th century (one of which is the Church of Elijah the Prophet).
You will listen to stories about the first Russian theater, walk along the streets where the heroes of famous Soviet and Russian films walked.
Guided tour of the territory of the Spaso-Preobrazhensky Monastery (12th century), an urban dominant with impregnable stone walls, which is sometimes popularly called the "Yaroslavl Kremlin". It was here that in the XVIII century a handwritten list of the masterpiece of ancient Russian literature "The Word about Igor's Regiment" was discovered.
Lunch at a cafe in the city.
Transfer to Vologda.
Stop to visit the Kazan Danilovsky Monastery on Gorushka (Danilovsky district, Yaroslavl region) under favorable weather conditions. Self-examination.

Day 2 - Snowdrifts. New Year's program "Solntsevorot" or "Yule-Karachun". Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery
Breakfast at the hotel restaurant.
Departure to Sugorye.
Visit to the complex "Sugorye" with an interactive New Year's program "Solntsevorot" or "Yule-Karachun". Once upon a time, the melodious word "Sugorye" was used to refer to a part of the Belozersky principality along the Sheksna River, where settlements of Slavs and Finno-Ugrians developed, and Vikings who followed the path "from the Varangians to the Arabs" were frequent visitors.
In the program:
acquaintance with the traditions of celebrating the ancient Slavic New Year – the Winter Solstice, or Karachun, and the Yule holiday of the Scandinavian peoples and the bright feast of Christmas that replaced them;
stories about the ancient past of Belozerye;
visit to the "Princely Gridnitsa", a chamber for feasts and receptions, where the ancient Slavic traditions of the winter Solstice or Karachun will come to life.
The Viking House, where you will celebrate the winter solstice of Yule. And after the eventful program, a tea party with traditional New Year's treats — bagels and Yule log.
Lunch at a cafe in the city.
Visit to the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery, the pearl of the Vologda region. The monastery stands majestically and unshakably on the shores of the picturesque Siversky Lake, its white stone walls seem to completely encircle and protect the incredible beauty of the Russian North.
A tour of the monastery's territory with a visit to the exhibitions "Archimandrite and Monastic Cells" introduces the history and architectural complex of the monastery (the ensembles of the Bolshoy Uspensky and Ivanovsky monasteries, the "New City" and the territory of the unsecured fortress Ostrog between them).
Transfer to Vologda.
Dinner at the hotel restaurant.
Day 3 - Sightseeing tour of Vologda. The Lace Museum. Return to Moscow

Sightseeing tour of the beautiful Vologda, one of the oldest cities of the Russian North.
During the bus and walking tour, you will find:
acquaintance with the history of the founding of the city and its legends, the special roles of Ivan the Terrible and Peter the Great in its development;
inspection of unique wooden buildings and "branded" carved palisades;
The stone architecture of the Vologda Kremlin is the Bishop's Court and its pearl, St. Sophia Cathedral of the 16th century (external inspection), the oldest stone structure in Vologda;
Vologda river embankment, Kremlin Park and monuments to the letter "O" and K.N. Batyushkov, a bench "let's sit and have a look".
Please note: in Vologda, work is currently underway to improve the urban space.
An excursion to Russia's only Lace Museum: an introduction to the history of Vologda's most famous brand from the end of the 19th century to the present. Lace-making workshop.

Departure to Moscow.

Many thanks to “Big Country” for this wonderful tour. The entire trip was organized exceptionally well: the hotels, meals, and transportation were all excellent. But the real highlight of the journey was our tour guide, Denis!!! Honestly, without him the trip would not have been nearly as memorable. Visiting so many churches and historical sites without meaningful context would have quickly become monotonous. Most of the local guides simply rushed through the program with dry facts and dates, almost like a school lecture. Denis, however, made everything come alive. Even before we arrived at each destination, he was already sharing fascinating stories and background information on the bus, which helped us appreciate the places so much more once we got there. Not a single person was late for the bus in the mornings! Everyone was eager not to miss his stories!!! He has an incredible knowledge of the history and geography of the region, and he could make even the scenery outside the window interesting!!! Listening to him never felt tiring because he spoke with such enthusiasm and passion!!! For the last two days we had a different guide, and the contrast was huge - unfortunately, it just wasn’t engaging at all. To sum it up: excellent organization, comfortable travel conditions, and an outstanding guide like Denis made this trip truly special!!! I only wish there were more professionals like him.

I really enjoyed the trip. I learned a lot more about my country and its history, and visited many historic cities and monasteries. It’s an experience I will remember for a long time.
