Day 1 - Pereslavl-Zalessky. Yaroslavl. Transfer to Vologda

07:15 Departure to Pereslavl-Zalessky.
A travel sightseeing tour of the city of Pereslavl-Zalessky – the birthplace of Alexander Nevsky and the cradle of the Russian navy.
The heart of Pereslavl is Red Square (photo stop).
Those who, upon learning about this, exclaim: "As in Moscow!" will only be mistaken in the direction.
This is the main square of Moscow, which received its name several centuries later in imitation of Pereslavskaya! A living confirmation of the local antiquity is the Transfiguration Cathedral, founded by Yuri Dolgoruky in 1152. This is the oldest building in northeastern Russia that has survived to the present day.
Departure to Yaroslavl.
Sightseeing tour of Yaroslavl, the "Capital of the Golden Ring", which will introduce you to the history of the millennial city and its modern way of life.
You will see the arrow of the Volga and Kotorosli rivers – the place where Yaroslavl began.
Walk along the picturesque Volga embankment, inspect the Assumption Cathedral recreated for the 1000th anniversary of the city.
Admire the unique architectural ensemble of the central part of Yaroslavl (under UNESCO protection) and its pearls – the churches of the XVII century (one of which is the Church of Elijah the Prophet).

A tour of the territory of the Spaso-Preobrazhensky Monastery (XII century) – an urban dominant with impregnable stone walls, which is sometimes popularly called the "Yaroslavl Kremlin". It was here in the XVIII century that a handwritten list of the masterpiece of ancient Russian literature "The Word about Igor's Regiment" was discovered.

Once the melodious word "Sugorye" was used to refer to a part of the Belozersky principality along the Sheksna River, where settlements of Slavs and Finno-Ugrians developed, and Vikings who followed the path "from the Varangians to the Arabs" were frequent guests.
Today, these forest and lake places are famous all over the world for their Orthodox monasteries – Kirillo-Belozersky, Ferapontov, Goritsky, founded in the XV-XVI centuries.
New Year's program "Solstice" or "Yule-Karachun".
The Sugorye Manor invites you to touch the folk New Year traditions and find out how the celebration of the ancient Slavic New Year took place – the Winter Solstice or Karachun and the Yule holiday of the Scandinavian peoples and the bright Christmas holiday that replaced them!

Visit Ferapontov monastery in Ferapontovo village or Kirillo-Belozersky monastery in Kirillov (depending on the mode of operation of museums).
Ferapontov Monastery is the only monument in Russia with a full cycle of paintings by Dionysius preserved in its original form, included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The monastery was founded in 1398 by the Monk Ferapont.
For about 400 years, it was one of the prominent cultural and religious educational centers in the Belozersk region.
Today, the architectural core and the main center of attraction of the architectural ensemble of the Ferapontov Monastery is the single-domed Cathedral of the Nativity of the Virgin, the first stone building of Belozerye.
It is in it that the frescoes of the late 15th century, executed by Dionysius with his sons Theodosius and Vladimir, have remained almost unchanged.

The Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery is the pearl of the Vologda region.
The monastery stands majestically and unshakably on the shore of the picturesque Siversky Lake, its white stone walls seem to completely encircle and protect the incredible beauty of the Russian North. The monastery was founded at the end of the XIV century as the "Great Sovereign Fortress" on the northwestern borders of the Russian state.
During the tour, you will get acquainted with the history and architectural complex of the monastery: the ensembles of the Bolshoy Uspensky and Ivanovsky monasteries, the "New City" and the territory of the non-preserved fortress Ostrog between them.
The monastery is surrounded by fortress walls with monumental towers decorated with brick patterns.

The Vologda River embankment, the Kremlin Park and monuments to the letter "O" and K.N. Batyushkov, the bench "let's sit-let's go" will not leave you indifferent.
The Lace Museum.
It is impossible to return from Vologda without visiting the only Lace Museum in Russia, where you will get acquainted with the history of Vologda's most famous brand from the end of the XIX century to the present.
