Russian Russian Abbot Sergius of Radonezh is the capital of the "abbot of the Russian Land" and the greatest of Russian monasteries, the Trinity–Sergius Lavra, is a real monastic state within a state where a complex of buildings is still preserved, not only for spiritual, but also for administrative and economic purposes.
The powerful fortress wall of the monastery, together with the country, experienced all the greatest historical events, more than once withstood an enemy siege.
Inside the fortress walls there is a unique collection of architectural monuments: from ancient Russian white–stone churches to an 88-meter baroque bell tower crowned with a golden crown.
