Itinerary

  • Day 1 - Arrival. Trinity-Sergius Lavra — Pereslavl-Zalessky

Meeting with a guide in Moscow, on Komsomolskaya Square near Leningradsky railway Station at 09:00.

    Boarding the bus.

    Transfer to Sergiev Posad.

Russian Russian Abbot Sergius of Radonezh is the capital of the "abbot of the Russian Land" and the greatest of Russian monasteries, the Trinity–Sergius Lavra, is a real monastic state within a state where a complex of buildings is still preserved, not only for spiritual, but also for administrative and economic purposes.

The powerful fortress wall of the monastery, together with the country, experienced all the greatest historical events, and more than once withstood an enemy siege.

Inside the fortress walls there is a unique collection of architectural monuments: from ancient Russian white–stone churches to an 88-meter baroque bell tower crowned with a golden crown.

    Walking tour around the monastery.

While walking around the monastery, you will see sights such as Pancake Mountain (observation deck), which offers a dizzying view of the Lavra, Pyatnitsky courtyard, Pilgrimage Center (Red Rows), Forge and Stable Yard.

Sightseeing tour of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra.

The tour will introduce you to the shrines, architecture and sights of one of the largest centers of Russian spiritual culture and enlightenment.

In the Lavra you will see three main temples – the Dukhovskaya Church, the Assumption Cathedral and the church in honor of St. Peter the Great. St. Sergius with the Refectory Chamber.

    Lunch (extra charge).

    Transfer to Pereslavl-Zalessky.

    Check-in at the hotel.

    Evening walking tour of Pereslavl-Zalessky.

Once the largest city in the northeast of Russia, its ramparts reached a length of 2.5 km.

The city, the very foundation of which marked the future formation of a unified Russian state.

The Spaso-Preobrazhensky Cathedral of the 12th century and the ensembles of six monasteries, which miraculously survived the invasions of the Tatar-Mongols and the Polish-Lithuanian intervention of the 17th century, remind of these times.

I'm so glad I chose the 'Across the Expanses of Perm the Great' tour in July 2024. It was a high-quality, engaging, and thoughtfully designed journey through the entire Perm region. The trip was full of fascinating discoveries: ancient monasteries, unique museums, the distinctive Permian animal style and wooden deities, the history of salt production and the Stroganovs in the Urals, and much more. The natural beauty of Parma was breathtaking: dense forests, countless rivers, mountains, and even an ice cave. The hotels were comfortable, and the breakfasts and lunches were tasty, often featuring elements of local cuisine. Traveling in a small group made the experience even more enjoyable, after all, it's usually seasoned travelers who venture to the Perm region. One special moment was when we all got to bake and taste traditional gingerbread made from an old recipe, for many of us, it was a first. Huge thanks to our amazing guide, Andrey, and to Venaris, our incredibly skilled driver!
