Trekking to the Shavlin lakes

In the morning, after packing up, we will get into UAZ cars that will take us to the bridge over the Chuya River.

And we will go up to the first parking place near the Oroy river.

We'll set up camp here.

Length: 3 km by car, 6 km on foot with backpacks.
The height difference is 800 meters.

A good day's work.

In the morning we will go along the river. We will go upstream and stop at the Altai cottage, where you can taste delicious Altai flatbreads, milk, cottage cheese and cheese from ayran.

In the clearing, we admire the massive and majestic cedars and move on.

Towards lunch, we will cross the Oroy Pass (2,230 m), from where we will have a stunning view of the vast plain with many small lakes.

In the evening, after passing through the flat terrain, we will reach the valley of the Yeshtykol river, which further flows into the Shavla River.

We will spend the night on the banks of the Shavla River.

The height difference is 600 meters.

We will travel along the Shavla River all day until we reach the lower Shavlinsky Lake (the culmination of our journey).

Along the way, we will repeat the bends of the Shavla river, bypass a small picturesque lake, meet cedars, larches, thickets of blueberries, blueberries and lingonberries.

Snow-capped peaks are already visible.

From here you can clearly see the powerful rocky massif that separates the valleys of the two sources of the Shavla River.

After turning the river to the left, we will climb the slope and gain altitude, the lower Lake Shavlinsky is already close.

And finally, the azure water surface begins to appear.

Walking a little further, you can enjoy a magnificent view of the lake and mountain peaks: A fairy tale, a Dream and a Beauty.

In the evening, we set up a tent camp, share our impressions and admire the incredible landscape.

Length: 15 km – on foot with backpacks.
The climb is 350 meters.

After breakfast, we will go to the radial exit to the upper Shavlinsky lake, crossing the kurumniki.

The bravest can reach the glacier at the foot of the mountain peaks.

After returning to the camp, we will cook dinner, eat delicious Altai tortillas, and treat the chipmunks who frolic nearby with something delicious.

Length: 10-12 km – walking light.
The height difference is 300 meters.

If desired, you can just lie on the shore of the lake.

Sunbathing and swimming.

Or you can make a radial exit to the top of Pyramid Mountain, which offers excellent panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.

In the morning we will set out on our way back.

We have a long march under the Oroysky pass across the plain.

We will say goodbye to the Shavla River and follow the Yeshtykol River.

On the way, we can meet horses grazing freely in the open spaces near the pass.

Length: 15 km on foot with backpacks.
The height difference is 350 m.

We will start this day with a trail along the Yeshtykol River towards the Oroy pass, before which we will replenish our drinking water supplies and go through the pass to the Altai people's house, where we will stop to buy Altai cakes and fresh milk, observing the beautiful mountain landscape.

Then our way will lie down in the valley of the Oroy river, where we will spend the night.

The height difference is 250 meters.

The village of Chibit is already very close.

We will go out on the trail to the bridge crossing over the Chuya River.

After the bridge, we will walk along the serpentine on the slope of the river valley, along the way gophers will often cross the road, livestock (cows, horses, sheep) will meet, then we go out onto the hill, from where the panorama of the village of Chibit and the Chuya River opens.

Accommodation at the recreation center in cabins.

A sauna awaits us in the evening.

At dawn, we move back to Novosibirsk.

If necessary, we will bring part of the group to Gorno-Altaysk.

On the way, we will definitely stop to visit the souvenir market.

We recommend buying return tickets after 22.00.
