New Year in the Elbrus region. Active tour

Every winter, a lot of snow falls in the Elbrus region, which decorates fir and spruce trees in the gorges with a New Year's shawl. We will go to the mountains and see the frozen waterfalls, swim in the thermal springs and taste the real Caucasian narzan. 

We will walk along the snowy paths into the gorges overlooked by the mountains of the Main Caucasian Range, as well as ride along the cable cars of Elbrus and Cheget! 

In addition, we will try real mountain tea and taste delicious lingonberry pies, which are baked only on Cheget.

Itinerary

  • Day 1 - Arrival. Geduko Thermal springs

    13:30-14:00 (Moscow time) – gathering of the group at the airport and at the railway station in Mineralnye Vody (near the main entrance from the city).

    Geduko thermal springs. We start our New Year's tour in the Elbrus region with a pleasant swim in the thermal springs.

    The Geduko complex has outdoor pools where you can swim in the healing, thermal water. The water temperature reaches 50C and comes to the surface from a depth of about 4,000 meters.

    Water is very rich in potassium, calcium, sodium and bromine. It not only cleanses the human body, but also relieves stress, rejuvenates and gives a boost of energy!

    Bathing accessories (swimsuit, towel, slippers, hair clip) should be packed in advance in a separate bag and taken with you on the bus.

    Transfer to the Baksan gorge of the Elbrus region (2.5-3 hours), check-in at the hotel.

Difficulty level of the route: moderate (60% of the route), medium (40% of the route). 

The route is trekking and involves walking through mountainous (rough) terrain. This type of outdoor activity involves daily climbing and dropping heights (ascents and descents).

The route follows snow trails and dirt roads. The routes will have an altitude difference of 200 to 500 m per day for three days. Climbing 200-500 m is about the same as climbing 65-160 floors.

Route length: 44.8 km.

Ready-made breakfasts (day 2-6) are served at the hotel according to a set menu (the menu is not individual).

It's important to know

Personal equipment you need for the tour
  • child's passport / birth certificate;
  • winter jacket with hood (required!). Daytime air temperature: -5...-12C.;
  • fleece;
  • hat, gloves;
  • running trousers;
  • T-shirt;
  • lingerie;
  • tights, socks, gaiters, gaiters, shoe covers;
  • warm, waterproof walking shoes. The route runs on asphalt, along a trampled snow trail, through fresh snow;
  • trekking poles. The sticks significantly reduce the load on the knees. Physically strong and healthy tourists are recommended to have sticks with them. Tourists who have problems with their knees, joints, and excess weight must have trekking poles. If necessary, the club provides trekking poles for rent.;
  • tourist foam seat;
  • swimsuit, towel, flip-flops;
  • camera/video camera;
  • toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, razor, toilet paper);
  • hairbrush;
  • sunglasses are REQUIRED. On clear days, glasses protect the eyes from the sun's rays, which can burn the outer layers of the eye. Snow reflects up to 80% of the sun's rays. When sunlight reflects off snow, it becomes very bright and is accompanied by an intense glare that makes it difficult to look at.;

  • backpack for walking (15-20 liters);
  • lantern;
  • A thermos is REQUIRED (volume 0.75 – 1 liter per person). Every tourist takes tea for a walk in a thermos;
  • mug, spoon;
  • shoe dryers. On walks, we walk along snowy paths, by the evening the shoes become wet, they need to be dried.;
  • sunscreen, lipstick;
  • individual first aid kit.
