A great journey through Dagestan: mountains, sands, carpets

Today we will go to the natural wonders of Dagestan.

They're waiting for us:

• The Sulak Canyon is one of the deepest in Europe, and its scale is breathtaking.;
• Sarykum dune is a piece of real desert among the mountains, where the sand seems to sing under your feet.;
• Noho Cave with suspension bridges and light shining through stone arches;
• Lunch at the restaurant among the gardens (Peach Orchard/Turkish delight/Glavryba) — you will relax, enjoying dishes prepared with all your heart;
• Tea drinking on carpets in the apricot orchard is a moment of silence, comfort and real Dagestani hospitality.
• Moving to the mountains. On the way, we will make stops at the Gimrinskaya Tower and the Irganai reservoir.
• In the evening, check into a mountain house and have a hearty dinner by the campfire. The mountains are nearby, the sky is starry, and everything is just beginning.

We check into a guest house/hotel/campsite.

In the morning, a delicious homemade breakfast and departure to the Karadakh gorge, where the rocks form a narrow passage, like a secret path to the legend.

Next is Goor. The towers standing on the cliffs seem to guard the peace of the past. There is also the famous Troll Tongue photo location: the view of the Avar Spit and the mountains makes you forget about time.

Lunch is served by local residents, with homemade food and comfort, as if you had come to visit relatives.

We return to our guest house for an evening of board games, delicious food, tea and conversations that become part of the memories.

After breakfast, we will go to Gamsutl village, a ghost town hidden high in the mountains. Hiking uphill to the ancient village, admiring the incredible views and landscapes.

The climb will take time, but every step is with a heart—stopping look.

On the way there is a viewing platform with a view of the Chokh terraces: smooth as steps created by nature and time.

Lunch — again with soul and taste. After that, the road to the underground waterfall of the Saltinsky gorge. This is a rare miracle of nature: the water falling in the rock sounds like a song.

In the evening, return to the house, relax, have a leisurely dinner with conversations and the feeling of a real journey.

After breakfast and packing, we head to Derbent, the oldest city in Russia, where every street breathes history.

Waiting for us:

• Getting to know the Caspian monster, the Lun ekranoplane (at the discretion of the guide and the group);
• Carpet weaving demonstration is an art passed down from generation to generation;
• Tour of the ancient fortress of Naryn-Kala overlooking the endless Caspian Sea;
• Walk through the narrow streets of the old town of Magala, where the stone has been preserved for centuries;
• Lunch with the aromas of southern Dagestan;
• Evening walk along Happy People Street and souvenir market.

We return to Makhachkala full of impressions, with the feeling that we have found a place on the map that we want to return to.
