11:00 a.m. We pack our bags, go through a safety briefing and practical classes on the basics of rowing under the guidance of an instructor.

The beginning of the rafting.

We set off (15 km).

Our journey will begin near the village of Chernysheno. At the beginning of the 18th century, Tsar Peter I granted it to Count James Bruce, a descendant of the Scottish kings. After his retirement, the count lived for a long time in his Chernyshensk estate, engaged in alchemical experiments.

The descendants of the count sold the village to Ivan Nikitich Skobelev. In 1844, after becoming a general of the Infantry, he built a stone church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary with a bell tower and a fence at the burial site of his wife Nadezhda Dmitrievna. During the Great Patriotic War, it was destroyed by the Germans.

To date, the temple has not been restored, only the walls and columns have been preserved. There is a version that at least two secret passages branched off from the temple, one of which went to the river, the second stretched towards the manor garden (about 300 meters from the temple).

Kayaks will glide slowly in a shallow canyon past pine forests and oak groves, sometimes clinging to the bottom of black trunks lying on the sandy bottom.

We will also encounter rubble along the way.

There are ducks, herons and storks on the river.

Fishing enthusiasts, taking a spinning rod with them, can count on a good catch of fish for the whole friendly company.

The flora of Zhizdra is amazing. The shores are blue with crested flowers, yellow and blue irises are dotted near the water, and lilies are white in quiet backwaters.

And in the evening there is a great opportunity to steam in the hiking bath, which will appear near the water.

In Russia, going to the sauna was always a ritual, and not only did they enjoy themselves in the steam room, but they also healed the body.

During the rafting, our team will pass the places where fierce battles took place in 1941. Along the high banks of the Zhizdra, there are overgrown trenches of a powerful defense line from the Great Patriotic War, in which you can easily find helmets and cartridge cases. In memory of those battles, mass graves are located along the shores.
