Personal equipment you need for the tour

When choosing clothes for jeep tours, you can be guided by all the principles of selecting clothes for any active tour or just a hike in nature.

Main principles:

  • Clothing and shoes must be durable and waterproof.
  • You should feel comfortable in these clothes.
  • Clothes should not be heavy and take up a lot of space.

Modern travel clothing meets all these requirements. The widespread use of membrane materials makes clothes absolutely waterproof, but at the same time allows the clothes to “breathe” - you won’t get wet in a downpour, but you won’t sweat like you would in a polyethylene raincoat.

  1. Backpack. It is best to carefully pack all personal belongings in a tourist backpack. You should not take bags or suitcases - they will be inconvenient to carry and put in jeeps.
  2. Shoes. Rubber boots.
  3. Outerwear. Tourist waterproof jacket (or windbreaker), with a hood. Travel trousers are best, but jeans or any durable trousers that you feel comfortable in will also work well. If the tour includes an overnight stay in nature, then you can take a small sports down jacket with you for night gatherings by the fire and during the cold season (even in summer the nights in Karelia can be cold), but it must be tightly rolled and packed so that it does not take up much space . If you don’t want to wear a hood, take a headdress - a hat or cap without mesh or holes.
  4. Middle and bottom layer of clothing. A sweater (sweatshirt) or a pair of thick T-shirts (shirts) with long sleeves. Special thermal underwear can replace warm T-shirts. A pair of warm socks and thin socks for every day. Light sports cotton pants and a light cotton T-shirt - as night pajamas (if you plan to spend the night in tents). Underwear. Swimming trunks if you want to swim.
  5. Personal hygiene products and anti-mask products. Towel, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, etc. Means of protection against insects - mosquitoes, horseflies, midges (jeeps must have a set of anti-mask products). We recommend using aerosol products for application to open areas of the body.
  6. Documentation. Passport, driver's license (if available). It is better to pack documents in a plastic bag or a special sealed case.
Money. We recommend that you always have a small amount of cash or a plastic card with you so that, if desired, you can quickly buy drinks or sweets in village shops along the jeep tour route.
