We will visit the first Russian resort, which was founded in 1719 by Emperor Peter I himself on the basis of ferruginous mineral springs in the Marcial waters.

Itinerary

Day 1 - We will visit the most famous sights of Karelia by bus
We meet at the train station, get acquainted with the guide and go for a buffet breakfast at the stylish and modern Severny restaurant, but at the same time one of the oldest restaurants in Petrozavodsk, its history has already crossed half a century.
After breakfast, we go on a trip on off-road vehicles.
The first stop is in an exclusive location.
Zaitsev Valley is a unique art object located near Petrozavodsk.
A rock with many carved hares can impress both children and adults.
Then a short stop along the way to contemplate the beautiful views of the islands of Lake Conchesero, opening from Mount Sampo.
This hill was so named after the filming of the 1959 film of the same name based on the Karelian epic Kalevala.
Sampo is a wonderful mill, a one–of-a-kind magical object with magical power and is a source of happiness, well-being and abundance.
And here we are in the town of Marcial Waters, the first Russian resort founded in 1719 by decree of Peter 1. Water from healing springs is still widely used for therapeutic and preventive purposes today, as it contains a large amount of iron and other trace elements.
We will have the opportunity to taste and appreciate the taste of healing water from 3 underground springs, as well as buy souvenirs from Karelian producers.
We have a delicious lunch in a cozy cafe near the village of Girvas.
At the entrance to the village of Girvas, we cross the dry riverbed of the Suna River by a dam – one of the hydraulic structures of the Palaeozersk hydroelectric power station.
When the water level in the system of lakes forming the reservoir rises to a critical level, floodgates are opened here and water is discharged.
At the beginning of May, we can see an exciting, fascinating sight.
When the sandors are open and we can admire the power of the artificial Girvas waterfall.
Hydroelectric power plant and Girvas volcano – we descend to the lava tongues of the oldest volcano in the channel of the idle spillway of the hydroelectric power plant – a rocky slope formed by molten rock of more than 2.5 billion years ago, during the formation of the Earth's crust.

Day 2 - Water travel
We have breakfast at the base.
We change clothes before rafting and go to the place where more than a century ago the Tivdian marble was mined, which is often mentioned in the history of the construction of St. Petersburg.
Walking between the marble blocks, admiring the high steep cliffs, we listen to a fascinating tour about marble mining.
From the very top there is a fascinating view of the lake, the forest, the village and the surrounding area far away.
From here we start our short and bright rafting 1.5 km along the Tivdika River.
We recuperate with lunch in a cozy and atmospheric cafe, with panoramic windows and a breathtaking view of the rapid rapid of the river.
We are offered fish soup and 7 types of grouse.
The owner of the base teaches how to roast red fish on a stone.
We thank you for your hospitality and move on – by boat on Sandal Lake to Lychny Island.
We visit the Church of Peter and Paul built in 1620.
The journey along the lake ends with a stop in the village of Yershi, where jeeps are already waiting for us, on which we go to admire the beautiful ancient villages.
In the evening we will have a sauna and a delicious late dinner.

Day 3 - ATV safari in ancient “fallen asleep” villages
We have breakfast in the restaurant of the base.
Having refreshed ourselves, we carefully listen to the instructions and train ourselves to control the ATV.
The route is laid with extreme off-road forest areas, and on flat and hilly high-speed dirt roads (60 km.)
Departure along the route: Tivdia — to the village of Belaya Gora (5 km.), sightseeing tour of the old church of the Icon of the Kazan Mother of God, built by Konstantin Ton, a famous architect in 1856 — D. Ruffy (10 km.) village of 1520, excursion to the chapel.- village of Kovka Selga (5 km.), excursion to the stone canyon. Timai mountain (8 km.), excursion to the angel (you can collect living water in the well).
Here, on the shore of Lake Sandalwood, there is a cluster of villages called Selezhi, which also included the villages of Antipinskaya (Matyukov Navolok, Matyuki), Ruff, Kovkoyselga, Kaiginaselga, Timoigora, Rigoselga, Oyazha and Vladimirskaya.
The first mention of settlements in this area is found in the scribe book of the Obonezhskaya Pyatina in 1496: it records villages on Lychny Island and on Lizhmozer.
The village of Belaya Gora, which took refuge among the dense forests of the Kondopoga district on the shore of the Khizhozer.
A little over a hundred years ago, it was the center of marble mining in the north of Russia.
The Tivdian quarries are quite comparable in beauty to the famous Ruskeala marble canyon, although they are less "promoted".
A single path leads to the top, steep and overgrown with moss.
The climb is not easy, although it is not very high.
But the work will be well rewarded.
The village of Yershi is one of the almost abandoned villages.
There is no electricity.
You can only get through on a dry road.
Wooden buildings are well preserved in the village itself.
The temple, Karelian houses.
A very beautiful village, far from civilization, lives by its own rules and laws.
The spacious views of the neighboring shores and the silence create a moment of timelessness.
A heavenly place to relax.
The Chapel of the Archangel Michael (XVIII century) is the first building at the entrance to the village, on the shore of Sandal Lake.
The church is falling into disrepair, but the dome makes an impression.
The name of the Karelian village of Kavgora is familiar to many today thanks to the chapel, which was transported to Kizhi Island in 1961.
The Chapel of the Transfiguration of the Lord is wooden on a high base.
The three-dimensional composition of the chapel consists of two rectangular log cabins placed end-to-end in plan.
There's a snack on the way.
Next, follow the route: Riga Selga village (6 km.), a sightseeing tour of the burned village.Tivdia (18 km).
We return to the base, have lunch.
On the way to Petrozavodsk, we visit the Kivach Nature Reserve, visit the Kivach waterfall on the Suna River, one of the largest Karelian rivers.
The height of the waterfall is about 11 meters (water falls from several ledges).
It is the third largest plain waterfall in Europe (after the Rhine and the Bolshoy Yaniskengas waterfall in the Murmansk region).
We will visit the arboretum and the museum of Karelian nature.

A separate entrance from the street, its own porch, a vestibule for outerwear and outdoor shoes, an entrance hall, a bathroom equipped with a shower cabin and underfloor heating, a spacious living room, kitchen and bedroom.(2 single beds, 1 double bed and an additional sofa on the ground floor). The living room is equipped with an LCD TV, and the living room window offers panoramic views of the stormy Tivdika River. It's important to know

1. Backpack.
All personal items must be carefully packed in a travel backpack. Bags or suitcases will not work, they will be very inconvenient to carry and put in jeeps.

2. The form of clothing.

comfortable sportswear (trousers and sweatshirt/T-shirt, jacket). It's uncomfortable in jeans.
socks should be on your feet (not thin cotton, tighter).
it is desirable that the clothes be quick-drying.
Recommended: put on a light Bolognese suit (protection from wind and moisture). Raincoats made of dense materials can be used.
on the head: a cap or a bandana.

3. For a trip to the sauna:

individual towel,
swimsuit (boys/girls go to the sauna together),
slates/sandals for sports.

4. Shoes:

comfortable shoes WITHOUT heels, 2 pairs:
- worn trekking boots with thick soles/sneakers
- the second pair is "urban"

5. Personal hygiene products and anti-mosquito products.

sunglasses and sunscreen and after sunburn, if it is sunny according to the forecast;
insect repellents – mosquitoes, horseflies, midges. We recommend using Gardex aerosol products for application to exposed areas of the body.

6. Documents: passport, driver's license (if available).
It is better to pack the documents in a plastic bag or a special sealed case and store them in a backpack pocket during a jeep tour. We recommend making a couple of copies of photocopies of the first pages of the passport.

7. Money.
We recommend that you always have a small amount of cash with you so that, if desired, you can quickly buy drinks or sweets in the village shops on the jeep tour route.

8. Personal items.
We recommend taking sunglasses, a small flashlight, a small penknife, a lighter, handkerchiefs, a small personal first aid kit, a cell phone, and a wristwatch.

9. You can take a camera, a video camera.

Almost all the time you are on the jeep tour route, you are in the forest. Most of the rules of behavior are related to this.

1. Always fasten your jacket tightly and put on the hood when making your way through the bushes, walking along a narrow forest road or just walking into the woods near the campsite.
2. When walking through the forest, always look at your feet! To look around, stop first.
3. Wading through streams, remember – the stones under water are very slippery.
4. During the route, follow the safety precautions that you will be introduced to before starting the jeep tour.
5. During the route, listen to the advice of the instructor. All this is for your own safety.
6. Try to take an active part in the organization of halts and camps, harvesting firewood and cooking. To the best of your ability, help the instructors – it's in your best interests.
7. Take care of nature. Do not pollute camp sites with food waste and packaging. There are special garbage bags in each jeep to collect garbage.

In addition, there are a number of requirements directly related to safety when traveling off-road:

1. Only persons with a category "B" driver's license are allowed to drive a car.
2. Persons under the influence of alcohol or drugs are not allowed to drive a car
3. While driving, you must clearly follow the instructions of the instructor, observe the speed recommended by the instructor. Try to drive the car smoothly, avoid sudden maneuvers, accelerations and braking. Remember that on off-road and bad roads, the grip of tires on the surface and handling deteriorates dramatically. After overcoming puddles and mud, when the brake pads are wet and the wheel tread is clogged with clay, the car's brake efficiency decreases sharply. For the first few seconds, the brakes may not be present at all.
4. It is always necessary to remember about the possibility of oncoming traffic, often logging trucks move along such roads. At the same time, it should be borne in mind that forest roads are often very narrow and only one car can fit on them, so the possibility of traveling with oncoming traffic can be difficult. But even on wide dirt roads, oncoming traffic can be very dangerous, because it can move at high speed on your side – head-on. You should always be prepared for this, especially when cornering.
5. When driving on forest roads and off-road, you should always be prepared for the appearance of obstacles on the way, and not only on the road. These can be large stones, gullies, logs sticking out of the ground, and so on. In addition, branches of trees and shrubs often hang down from the roadsides on the road, and there are trunks of trees that have not completely fallen low above the road. Such obstacles can be extremely dangerous – they can break glass and cause serious injury. Therefore, the car must be driven at a speed that allows you to react urgently (maneuver, slow down or even stop) to any obstacle that suddenly appears.
6. Off-road, there are often situations when it is necessary to stop completely in front of an obstacle and get out of the car to inspect the obstacle, decide on the possibility of further movement and choose the optimal and safe trajectory. Overcoming some obstacles (dilapidated bridges, fords) may require preliminary exploration and preparatory work (sometimes lengthy) before the start of the movement.
7. Often, to pass dangerous and difficult obstacles, the help of another person is needed – a colleague in the crew or an instructor who, while outside the car, indicates a safe trajectory. All these actions are performed under the supervision of an instructor.
8. Remember that the routes of jeep tours are laid on little-used and abandoned roads, so the quality of these roads, their embankments, bridges, etc. can be very poor and change greatly from the moment when the car last passed here. Even if tread marks are visible on the road and it seems that a car has recently passed here, this does not mean that it is safe to follow these same tracks at the moment. You should always be careful and follow the advice and instructions of the instructor.
9. If overcoming an obstacle requires special driving skills or may endanger crew members, the instructor can get behind the wheel himself and overcome a dangerous area, thereby taking full responsibility for himself. In particularly dangerous cases, the instructor may decide to ban movement along a dangerous section and change the route of the group.
10. If the instructor believes that the client's driving skills are insufficient in this traffic situation or his actions and reactions are not adequate and further movement may pose a danger to the crew or vehicle, the instructor may suspend the client from driving on this section of the highway.
11. When stopping, it is necessary to remember about other crews following your car so that they have the opportunity and a place to stop safely. If possible, it is necessary to stop on flat horizontal sections. You can get out from behind the wheel after stopping only after you are completely convinced that the car cannot roll away.
12. Before the start of each jeep tour, a master class is held, during which customers get acquainted with these rules and receive safety instructions. The master class also contains a large practical part where clients gain off-road driving skills and learn how to pass some basic obstacles. Passing the master class is mandatory for every participant who wants to drive an SUV on the jeep tour route.
