The territory of the Northern Urals is huge. This is one of the most remote and inaccessible areas of this mountain range: the edge of dense taiga forests. North of Ivdel, the villages of Vizhaya and Burmantovo, there is a continuous taiga: there are no settlements or roads, except for ancient hunting huts, yurts and camps. The mountains are surrounded by impassable taiga and swamps in summer. The northern forest is endless everywhere: shaggy firs, powerful cedars, Siberian pines.

You will find yourself in this amazing harsh place, visit the Igor Dyatlov pass, Mansi villages with Mansi taiga inhabitants living in primitive conditions without civilization, and caves on the Lozva River.

We will visit absolutely wild conditions and, possibly, we will meet with local taiga inhabitants: wolves, moose, hares and reindeer.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival at the base in the village of Vizhai
Arrival at the base in the village. Vizhai (time depends on the time of arrival of the tour participants, the weather situation and the condition of the Yekaterinburg — Ivdel — p. Vizhai highway), the team's settlement in a comfortable house.
Rest (at the request of the team, a sauna is heated).
The guides (or chef) are busy arranging the kitchen, setting the table and preparing a welcome dinner.
The time of the meal and the gathering of the team at the table coincides with the time on the menu: 8:00-9:00: breakfast, 13:00-15:00: lunch (lunch snack), 19:00-21:00: dinner.
Supper.
Free time.
Organizational meeting on the upcoming trip: questions on the daily routine, rules of conduct in the group, technical features of snowmobile management, safety issues, route and other details of the expedition.
Preparation of participants for the upcoming departure: fitting of equipment and checking (warming up) of snowmobiles.
Evening individual business.
Overnight in comfortable cabins at a recreation center in the village of Vizhay.

Day 2 - Pic. Vizhay – pos. Ushma
08:00 Wake up, morning treatments.
09:00 Hot breakfast (according to the menu).
At the request of the expedition participants, the breakfast time can be changed.
Packing of equipment (personal items, groceries, camping equipment, fuel and lubricants).
Packing of necessary ammunition and fuel cans in special sleds and trunks.
Briefing, test passes, equipment check.
11:00 Start of the expedition to Dyatlov Pass from the village of Vizhaya towards the Mansiysk village of Ushma.
The participants of the trip, depending on the chosen route and the current weather conditions, cross several mountain rivers along the way — Vizhai, Toshemka, Ushminka, Lozva; Kotliya, Malaya Manya, etc.
In early winter or early spring, there is a possibility of crossing these rivers by water (they may not freeze yet or have already opened up under the rays of the March sun).
In this case, experienced guides, using their knowledge of the route, indicate places for crossing snowmobile equipment on open water (wading).
Such situations are not uncommon, as a result of which, on the first day of the expedition, it is planned to overcome a not very significant, but necessary distance.
The journey, depending on the chosen route, takes place along an all-terrain road or along a remote Mansiysk trail along a packed Mansi blizzard (snowmobile trail).
The first part of the trip ends in the national Mansiysk village of Ushma, 60 km from the starting point.
One of the attractions of this place is the remains of the first penal colony in the USSR, where the liberated prisoners lived.
In Soviet times, there was a sawmill, a sauna, a bakery, and a park with children's swings and flower beds.
Since the end of the 70s, the colony has ceased to exist, the inhabitants of the village have left these places due to lack of work and prospects.
At the moment, the remains of the village make a depressing impression: destroyed and abandoned houses, the remains of a cattle yard and piles of twisted metal.
14:00-14:30 Lunch, depending on the selected menu option (in the standard program, the camping menu provides a light lunch and snack: tea from thermoses, sandwiches, sweets).
With favorable weather conditions and the planned speed of the group, participants can make longer stops for photo shoots.
The path passes near the foot of the Chistop ridge.
This mountain is one of the most mysterious places in the Northern Urals: the strongest electromagnetic anomalies are observed here, local residents tell about dozens of cases of encounters with ball lightning.
The outlines of medieval castles can be seen in the rocks of Chistop Mountain, towering over the plain of the plateau, and the ruins of the radar station (an abandoned military facility) seem to be alien buildings.
The snowmobile ascent to Chistop Mountain and its summit is very difficult (due to the abundance of large rocks and strong winds blowing all the snow off the pre-summit plateau).
If desired and with enough free time (in the spring season), participants can take an extra day to visit the top of the mountain and climb to the observation deck, which offers stunning views of the vast and vast world around.
19:00 Arrival at the tourist base "Eles-Tour", located in a picturesque place on the shore of a reservoir.
Accommodation of the expedition participants in warm log cabins with infrastructure.

Day 3 - Base "Eles-Tour" – Dyatlov Pass – base "Eles-Tour"
07:00 Early rising, morning individual tasks and procedures.
07:30-08:00 Hot breakfast (according to the menu).
Warming up and preparing snowmobiles.
08:30 Departure from the tourist base "Eles-Tour".
Passing the Mansiysk village of Ushma, the group moves along the frozen Lozva River to the Dyatlov Pass.
The Lozva River (translated from Permian Komi: "loz" — blue, blue, va — water) is the fifth longest river in the Sverdlovsk region.
In the upper reaches of the river, the water is really clean and transparent. The main source of the Lozva originates in the Karovo lake on the slope of the town of Otorten.
11:30 a.m. Arrival of the snowmobilers at the parking lot called "Ilyich's hut" or "Ilyich's base."
Earlier, during the time of the state farms, it was a nut-fishing base.
The pine nuts were harvested in a mighty old cedar grove about five kilometers away.
The base is located in a picturesque place: there is a high-trunked pine forest around, on the river there is a vast ples, where the watchman of the geological party Ilyich once fished.
Geologists have long since left these places, but the name of the place remains.
The Northern Urals consists of many ridges, but they are not visible below because of the dense forest.
The mountains are gentle, and when climbing, it feels like it's all foothills.
But at some point, a frozen ocean of ghostly mountains opens up in front of travelers, from which it is impossible to take your eyes off.
During the movement, the group crosses the border of climatic zones, the forest ends abruptly, and the road steeply goes up over snow-covered rocks, moss and lichen.
Dyatlov Pass is located in the hollow of the Kholat-Chakhl ridge (Mountain of the Dead / Dead Mountain), where, according to legend, nine Mansi hunters died.
In the same place, in February 1959, a group of UPI students died.
The instructor guide will acquaint tourists with several versions of the tragic death of tourists: from a banal avalanche to tests of secret weapons and infrasound natural phenomena, show the approximate location of the tent and tell a number of interesting facts about the history of searches and subsequent expeditions to the area.
The expedition members spend from 30 minutes to 1.5 hours on the pass (depending on the weather situation), and free time is provided for photo shoots at the monument rock.
From the Kholat-Chakhl ridge (Kholat-syakhyl) There are wonderful views of the nearby ridges.
In the north, you can see another visiting card of the Northern Urals — Mount Otorten, at the foot of which is the purest mountain lake Lunthusaptur (Lake of the Lonely Goose lane).
There is an old Mansi legend that during the flood in this lake at a great height, a single goose escaped, which according to Finno-Ugric mythology is the ancestor of all life on Earth.
The descent takes place along a familiar road.
There are many stunted birch trees on the slope, the trunks and branches of which are mutilated and twisted by mountain winds.
The landscape changes in reverse order — the road leads down all the time, winding through a dense forest and, eventually, leads us to a wonderful and picturesque place at the turn of the Lozva river.
We return to the base of "Eles-Tour" along a crowded river route.
19:00-20:00 Arriving at the base, the participants change into dry clothes and gather as a team in the kitchen-dining room.
Hot tea upon arrival and an exchange of impressions, discussion of generally accepted versions of the death of the Dyatlovites.
21:00 Hearty dinner.
Birch wood-burning sauna (at the request of the team, to be paid separately).
Evening individual business.
Overnight at the base of "Eles-Tour".
Daily snowmobile run: about 150 km.

Day 4 - The Mansi settlement "Treskolye" and Caves on the Lozva River
08:30 Late wake-up, morning treatments.
08:30-10:30 Hot breakfast (according to the menu).
Rental of cabins, collection of personal belongings, formation of transport bags.
Preparation for departure — warm-up and visual inspection of equipment for malfunctions.
10:30 Departure in the direction of the starting point — the village of Vizhaya.
Today, the group is visiting several interesting places in the region.
The Mansi settlement of Treskolye and Caves on the Lozva River. The Mansiysk camp "Treskolye".
The Mansi settlement consists of kamkels — huts of close and distant relatives.
Permanent huts are heated with the help of a chuvala, a kind of fireplace made of poles and coated with clay.
This hearth was also used for cooking.
Mansi bread is baked in special ovens located near the house. The participants of the trip will be able to see with their own eyes these amazing buildings, as well as chopped houses with gable roofs, ovens for baking bread, nanny chickens, real barns on chicken legs and sacred yalpyng sumyakhs, which are guarded by totems — bear and moose skulls - hanging on trees throughout the village.
14:00 Snack — light lunch (hot tea and sandwiches).
Caves on the Lozva River. The expedition participants will be able to visit a complex of karst caves unknown until recently, the existence of which is known only by a few experts.
Our guests will feel like pioneers, and perhaps discover a new hole in the already explored part of the cave.
Since the caves are located in a remote location and therefore rarely visited, the expedition members still have plenty of opportunities for new finds or discoveries.
The settlement of Mansi Treskolye (translated from Mansi: a house by a rocky river or a stone house on the riverbank).
The settlement is located in a picturesque location opposite the Tump-Kapai ridge (Mans lane. "big mountain").
15:30-16:30 Transfer along the rolled snowmobile path to the ford across the mountain river.
We drive to the bank of the Vizhai River. The name of the river is of Komi-Permian origin: "vezha" — "saint", "ai" — father.
It is interesting that in Mansi this river is called Yalpingya, which also means "holy river".
17:30-19:00 Arrival of travelers at the end of the trip — at the location of the tourist base in the village of Vizhay.

Optional: when deciding to leave the village of Vizhaya for the city of Ivdel, all costs related to food, accommodation, etc., are borne by the group members themselves.
21:30 General gathering of the band members in a comfortable living room at a festive table.
The expedition participants will be treated to specialties from the club chef according to the menu.
Optional (tour with a visit to the Chistop ridge): if the main goal of the expedition is successfully achieved on the eve of the visit to the Dyatlov Pass, the snowmobile expedition's itinerary includes a visit to another attraction in the Northern Urals, the anomalous zone of Chistop Mountain with an abandoned military radar station and the base of a military unit from the Soviet era (optional).
During the day, the team is provided with lunch, packaged in individual lunch boxes (according to the menu).

The tour provides accommodation at a recreation center and in warm guest houses.

The cost of the tour for 1 person:

for participants using their own snowmobile — 99,900 rubles;
2 people on a snowmobile — 134,900 rubles (for couples weighing up to 135 kg);
1 person on a snowmobile — 149,900 rubles. with self-driving and single occupancy on a snowmobile.

For ready-made individual/ corporate groups, an additional one-day radial trip to the Chistop ridge is possible, it will take another, additional day. The cost of an additional day for each participant is 33,000 rubles.

The campsite, located on the shore of Lake Ushminskoye, is the northernmost base of the Sverdlovsk region. Here, in comfortable conditions, you can relax and gain strength before radial tedious trips along the route.

The campsite was built by the club's partners in 2012. It has three separate excellent cozy huts, a sauna, a summer and winter dining rooms. The base has been built taking into account comfortable conditions for recreation in the forest. Existing infrastructure: Ethnic log houses with a Russian stove, Mansiysk warehouses, wood-burning houses.

Amenities (in the yard), water (from the hole), cooking on the stove. A chic living-dining room with a large dining table. Electric lighting is possible provided that a serviceable gasoline generator is available.
