Itinerary

  • Day 1 - Guided tour of the Kolomna Kremlin. Tea party at the Museum Pastille Factory

    08:45 Gathering of the group in Moscow, metro station "VDNKH" parking lot to the right of the hotel "Cosmos".

    09:00 Departure to Kolomna.

    Kolomna is one of the oldest cities in the Moscow region, Dmitry Donskoy's favorite city. Its main symbol is the Kolomna Kremlin, which has remained inaccessible to invaders since the 16th century.

    The inspection program includes:

    • fragments of the fortress wall and preserved towers, of which the most significant are Marinkina, Granovitaya and Pyatnitskaya passage;
    • Cathedral Square, whose architectural appearance consists of the Assumption Cathedral, built by decree of Dmitry Donskoy, the tent bell tower (17th century) is the most powerful belfry of this type in the Moscow region.;
    • Trinity Novo-Golutvin Monastery (XVII–XIX centuries);
    • The Resurrection Church (14th–19th centuries) is one of the most ancient buildings of the Kolomna Kremlin, where Prince Dmitry Donskoy and Evdokia of Suzdal were married in 1366.;
    • The Church of St. Nicholas the Living (1501) is one of the first brick churches in Russia.

    Visit to the Museum of the pastille Factory with a tea party in the Raspberry Room.

    You will visit the famous factory of Kolomna merchant Pyotr Karpovich Chuprikov, who was awarded medals at the World Exhibitions in Paris and Vienna for the formulation of the most delicious pastille.

    During the tour:

    • you will see the open pastille production of the beginning of the last century;
    • get acquainted with the principle of operation of antique confectionery mechanisms;
    • inspect the fruit storage and storerooms in the deep cellars of the 18th century.;
    • tea party in the Raspberry room with tasting of different flavors of Kolomna pastille — each with its own story.

    Lunch at a cafe in the city.

    Transfer to Ryazan.

    Many thanks to “Big Country” for this wonderful tour. The entire trip was organized exceptionally well: the hotels, meals, and transportation were all excellent. But the real highlight of the journey was our tour guide, Denis!!! Honestly, without him the trip would not have been nearly as memorable. Visiting so many churches and historical sites without meaningful context would have quickly become monotonous. Most of the local guides simply rushed through the program with dry facts and dates, almost like a school lecture. Denis, however, made everything come alive. Even before we arrived at each destination, he was already sharing fascinating stories and background information on the bus, which helped us appreciate the places so much more once we got there. Not a single person was late for the bus in the mornings! Everyone was eager not to miss his stories!!! He has an incredible knowledge of the history and geography of the region, and he could make even the scenery outside the window interesting!!! Listening to him never felt tiring because he spoke with such enthusiasm and passion!!! For the last two days we had a different guide, and the contrast was huge - unfortunately, it just wasn’t engaging at all. To sum it up: excellent organization, comfortable travel conditions, and an outstanding guide like Denis made this trip truly special!!! I only wish there were more professionals like him.

    I really enjoyed the trip. I learned a lot more about my country and its history, and visited many historic cities and monasteries. It’s an experience I will remember for a long time.
