Itinerary

  • Day 1 - Sightseeing tour of Vologda. Visit to the museum "Merchant Samarin's House". Kamenny Island tour

    07:00 Arrival in Vologda.

Welcome breakfast with stories about Vologda cuisine.

Sightseeing tour of Vologda. Acquaintance with the historical center of the city — wooden mansions with a "carved palisade", a visit to the Vologda Kremlin and the Spaso-Prilutsky Monastery.

The artistic significance of these places is extremely great: the most typical monuments of Vologda architecture of three centuries, from the XVI to the XVIII century, have been preserved here.

The monastery served as a stronghold of the Moscow princes in the Russian North and enjoyed great privileges.

Visit to the museum "Merchant Samarin's House", the only surviving urban estate of the early 20th century.

You will learn the history of the owner of the house and his family, as well as gain very valuable knowledge about tea etiquette. You can apply your skills immediately at a welcoming tea party with real Vologda romances that will be performed to you live.

Transfer to S. The mouth, where high-speed boats will be waiting for you, which will take you to Kamenny Island with a breeze.

Sightseeing of Kamenny Island. Visit to the Spaso-Kamenny Monastery. Despite the long distance, the ferry to the island operates all year round, and in winter you can get to the island by ice on all-terrain boats.

The incredible story of the fate of a man who escaped from a violent storm on an island that later became a place of strength for many.

Ferry back on speedboats. Transfer to Vologda.

    Check-in at the hotel.

    Vologda-style late lunch with tasting.

18:00 Evening visit to the Vologda Oil Museum (for an additional fee when recruiting a group of 10 people or more).

I'm so glad I chose the 'Across the Expanses of Perm the Great' tour in July 2024. It was a high-quality, engaging, and thoughtfully designed journey through the entire Perm region. The trip was full of fascinating discoveries: ancient monasteries, unique museums, the distinctive Permian animal style and wooden deities, the history of salt production and the Stroganovs in the Urals, and much more. The natural beauty of Parma was breathtaking: dense forests, countless rivers, mountains, and even an ice cave. The hotels were comfortable, and the breakfasts and lunches were tasty, often featuring elements of local cuisine. Traveling in a small group made the experience even more enjoyable, after all, it's usually seasoned travelers who venture to the Perm region. One special moment was when we all got to bake and taste traditional gingerbread made from an old recipe, for many of us, it was a first. Huge thanks to our amazing guide, Andrey, and to Venaris, our incredibly skilled driver!
