You will visit Vologda, the lace capital of Russia, admire the time–untouched frescoes of Dionysius in the Ferapontov Monastery and enjoy the beauty of the mighty Kirillo-Belozersk fortress monastery, which is compared to the fabulous city of Tsar Saltan. And also visit the historical and landscape territory "Old Usolye" in the village of Varnitsy near Totma, where a salt factory was located earlier in the XV-XIX centuries.and buy the famous Vologda butter and dairy products at the Vologda Combine company store.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival in Vologda. Excursion to the Museum of Local Lore in Totma. Excursion to the Museum of Seafarers
Arrival in Vologda before 09:00.
Meeting with the guide no earlier than 08:30-09:00.
Accommodation at the hotel in the evening according to the passport.
If you book an early check–in at the hotel (for an additional fee - specify the cost when booking), meet with the guide at the entrance to the hotel no earlier than 08:30-09:00.
Guests can get from the railway station to the hotel by taxi on their own.
WE RECOMMEND THAT TOURISTS ARRIVING BY TRAIN EARLY IN THE MORNING ADDITIONALLY BOOK EARLY HOTEL ACCOMMODATION (cost on request).
09:00 Transfer to Totma (200 km) with travel information and a sanitary stop along the way.
12:00 Excursion to the Museum of Local Lore will immerse guests in the atmosphere of life in a provincial town, introduce them to the traditions of Totma from the era of salt production of the XV century to the present day.
13:30 Lunch.
14:15 Sightseeing tour of the city "Small town with a great history" will take travelers to the provincial streets of the county town, discover the amazing beauty of temples made in the architectural style of "Totem Baroque", tell you what cartouches are and why they glorified Totma all over the world.
16:15 Excursion to the house museum of I.A. Kuskov, an explorer of Alaska and California, the founder of Fort Ross fortress in North America, will invite you to travel with the heroes of Russian naval expeditions of the 18th and 19th centuries. (since 09/01/2023 the museum is closed for repairs).
Replacement object: An excursion to the Museum of Seafarers, which is located in the most recognizable place of the city. No tourist can pass by this majestic building.
Built at the expense of Totem merchant companions, sailors Gregory and Peter Panov, the entrance to the Jerusalem temple-ship with a bell tower-mast is considered one of the peaks of the northern Baroque.
17:15 Visit to the historical and landscape territory "Old Usolye" in the village of Varnitsy near Totma, where a salt factory was located earlier in the XV-XIX centuries. The tour will allow you to learn the secrets of the technology of the medieval salt industry, admire the natural landscapes and one of the best examples of the "Totem Baroque" (the Church of the Resurrection of Christ), touch the monuments of engineering (pickle pipes), try to get a bucket of brine from the well and taste it. (Only from May 20th to November 10th. Before and after the replacement for a visit with an excursion to the reviving monastery of the Savior-Sumor monastery).
18:00/18:30 Departure to Vologda (200 km).
At the exit from Totma, check in at the roadside camping "Alaska" for a sanitary stop.
21:00/21:30 Arrival in Vologda.
Accommodation in a hotel according to a passport.

12:00 Visit to the Ferapontov Monastery with a thematic tour of the frescoes of Dionysius with a visit to the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Virgin.
14:00 Transfer to Kirillov (20 km).
14:30 Lunch.
15:15 Visit to the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery: sightseeing tour of the territory of the "sovereign fortress" of Ivan the Terrible with architectural monuments of the XV-XVIII centuries.
Visit to the Monastic Cell exhibition.
For arrivals after 05/01/2024, a visit to the exhibition "Antiquities of Belozerye" in the Basement of the Refectory is added.
17:45 Transfer to Vologda (130 km).
19:30 Arrival in Vologda.

Russian grave site inspection, interior decoration of the Spassky Cathedral and exterior architecture of the wooden Assumption Church of the 16th century, with a stop at the tomb of the Russian poet K.Batyushkov.
16:00 Transfer to the city center.
