Itinerary

Day 1 - Horseback riding to the observation deck
We meet the group at the airport in Gorno-Altaysk or at the bus station before 10 a.m. and take a comfortable car to the village of Elekmonar.
The journey will take about an hour.
Upon arrival, we settle in an eco-house and go to breakfast, which our brownie instructor has carefully prepared for you.
The briefing and acquaintance with the horses will begin at noon.
You will be selected horses based on your experience, skills or lack thereof.
The first introductory horseback ride today will take place along the village of Elekmonar, and then deep into the mountains – to the observation deck, which offers a magnificent view of the autumn mountains, the Barantal plateau, the mouth of the Elekmonar River and the prospect of turquoise Katun framed by golden birch trees.
After tea by the campfire – photo time.
Having saturated ourselves with plenty of sunlight and magical views of the golden Altai, we set out on our way back.
Surprisingly, on this trail, even in autumn, you can find the symbol of spring in Altai – a blooming maralnik!
We will spend the evening getting to know each other in the national Altai dwelling – village.

Day 2 - Horseback riding to the Kinderlin Cave and the ancient lighthouse
Today we are going on horseback to the Kinderlin cave.
The path runs over the bridge over the Katun River, which has a local landmark - the Dragon's Teeth, then, passing the field, we go into the mountains along a forest path.
The closer to the goal, the steeper the climb!
It is difficult to get to the cave on horseback, so leaving the horses we overcome the last 300 meters on foot.
The view of the cave is no less impressive than the overview of the Katuni valley, and climbing to the top of the mountain, where the ancient lighthouse is located (the index of the highest peak in the district), you can see the edge of warm sunny autumn and cold winter along the golden slopes of mountains and glades at your feet and snow-capped peaks stretching beyond the horizon.

A hot bathhouse and the instructor's stories about taiga life are already waiting for you at home.

Day 3 - Blue lakes of Altai
Wake up at 8 a.m., breakfast and get in the saddle!
It is necessary to arrive at the lakes by the time the sun's rays reach the water surface – it is at this time that an unusually fabulous color colors Katun's eyes!
Today, the road will pass through local villages and a pine forest.
Upon arrival, we leave our four-legged friends in a forest clearing and go directly to the lakes.
Those who wish can plunge into the emerald waters, feel the cheerfulness of the spirit.
By the way, it is in autumn that the Blue Lakes of Altai look especially impressive!
"Gold on blue" – as if the notorious Boris Borisovich Grebenshchikov sang about them in his song.
"The eyes of Katun" – that's what they say about the Blue Lakes in the Altai legends.
The evening is again declared a sauna, because after such an active day it is so nice to steam up!

Day 4 - Car tour along the Chui highway. The confluence of Chuya and Katun. Geyser Lake
The Chui highway is one of the most beautiful roads in the world.
Two beautiful passes — Seminsky and Cheke-taman, as well as the confluence of the Katun and Chuya rivers, Katun terraces, the Kurai steppe, the North Chuisky ridge with its peak Aktru and much more will be on our way.
The pearl of the tour will be a walking trip to Lake Mena — a milky blue geyser lake.
Many of our regular tourists who have been on this route at all seasons of the year note that the Chuisky tract is especially good in autumn.
Golden Altai!
Length: 700 km by car. Height difference: from 300 to 2000 m above sea level.
Anyone traveling through Novosibirsk and in a hurry can leave at 9.30 pm on the evening of the 4th day on the Novosibirsk bus (tickets on their own).
Day 5 - Departure
6:30-07:00 Transfer to Gorno-Altaisk airport.
In the morning, a minibus will pick you up and take you to the airport in Gorno-Altaysk.
If you are not on the way, we will help you take a bus to Novosibirsk or Barnaul.
It's time to say goodbye, but only to meet again, friends!

The weather conditions in the areas of the routes are very diverse. The air temperature can range from +10 to +35 degrees. Frequent and rapid changes in weather conditions are possible.

By train or plane to Novosibirsk/Barnaul/Gorno-Altaisk.
Then by bus (Novosibirsk/Barnaul/ Gorno-Altaysk – Chemal) to the settlement of Elekmonar (7 km. before reaching the village of Chemal).

VIA GORNO-ALTAYSK

Step 1. Go to any convenient website for you to purchase air tickets and buy tickets in the direction of Gorno-Altaysk (we will help you choose air tickets in advance).

Step 2. You arrive in Gorno-Altaysk and call the organizers and within 5 minutes you will be met at the entrance to the airport.

The cost of the transfer from Gorno-Altaysk to the village of Elekmonar and back is already included in the price of the tour.

Step 3. An hour later, you are already in a cozy guest house drinking seagulls and getting ready for a trip.

If unforeseen circumstances occur (flight delay, bus breakdown on the road, late arrival for a scheduled flight) – call the organizer. We will not leave anyone, we will wait for everyone and try to help as much as possible. The main thing is to keep us informed of your "adventures"!

VIA BARNAUL (non-stop)

Step 1. By air or railway transport you get to Barnaul.

Step 2. Take a minibus from the airport to the bus station. The bus station in the city of Barnaul is located on the same square with the railway station.

Step 3. Purchase a bus / minibus ticket following the route: Barnaul – Chemal (~ 1300 rubles).

Step 4. The road from Barnaul to Elekmonar takes approximately 4.5 hours. When the bus/minibus arrives in the village of Maima, which borders the city of Gorno-Altaysk (where the mountainous area begins), call the organizer and inform your location.

Step 5. After driving for another hour and a half, inform the bus driver

A minibus message that you need to get off at the village of Elekmonar at the Shershnevka stop! The black and orange building of the Paleopark, which will be located on the left along the bus, serves as a guideline that you will leave in 5 minutes.

Step 6. Get off the bus and call the organizer at one of the above numbers.

Step 7. You will be met within 5 minutes.

Step 3. Purchase a bus / minibus ticket following the route: Barnaul – Gorno-Altaysk (~ 650 rubles).

Step 4. At the Gorno-Altaisk railway station, purchase a ticket for a regular bus / take a taxi / take a minibus to the village of Chemal (~ 400 rubles.)

Step 5. As soon as you leave the bus station, call the organizer +7(925)700-03-02 or +7(966)095-03-02 and inform them that you have left.

Step 6. After driving for another hour and a half, inform the bus driver

A minibus message that you need to get off at the village of Elekmonar at the Shershnevka stop! The black and orange building of the Paleopark, which will be located on the left along the bus, serves as a guideline that you will leave in 5 minutes.

Step 1. By air or railway transport you get to Novosibirsk.

Step 2. From the airport, take a shuttle bus to the railway station. The branch of the bus station is located on the forecourt near the railway station.

Step 3. Purchase a ticket for the bus following the route: Novosibirsk – Chemal (~ 2200 rubles).

Step 4. The journey from Novosibirsk to Elekmonar takes approximately 9 hours. When the bus arrives in Gorno-Altaysk (the mountainous area begins there), call the organizer and inform your location.

Step 5. After driving for another hour and a half, inform the bus / minibus driver that you need to get off in the Electric car at the Shershnevka stop! The black and orange building of the Paleopark, which will be located on the left along the bus, serves as a guideline that you will leave in 5 minutes.

Step 6. Get off the bus and call the organizer at one of the above numbers.

Step 7. You will be met within 5 minutes.

In the conditions of hiking in mountainous terrain, it is quite easy to control a horse. In the column, the horses move independently one after the other. This is a familiar thing for them, they know the trails well. The task of the rider is only:

keep a distance between the horses (not too far and not too close);
in some cases, while riding a horse, push off with your hand from tree trunks and protect your head from low branches;
do not let the horse eat grass all the time (to do this, pull the reins and lift the horse's head);
Don't drive through the bushes;
strictly follow the path chosen by the instructor and do not enter dangerous places: steep slopes, deep places of rivers;
don't let the horse jump off the rocks.
A horse is a big and powerful animal. Make sure she doesn't accidentally step on your foot.
You CAN'T approach the horse from BEHIND! Our horses are calm, but still they are HORSES :) They can get scared and kick you.
After making a planned or forced stop on the way, do not let go of the horse. You need to tie it down or ask an instructor/ friend to hold it.
Altai horses should be tied not by a leash, but by a special rope. The chamberlain is also used to urge on a horse or lead it "by the reins".
It is very important to keep the distance between the horses and keep up.
The distance should be 2-3 meters. This distance between the riders allows you to save the time of the transition, not to stray from the path chosen by the instructor, and to conserve the strength of the horses.
If you realize that you are lagging behind, the horse needs to be adjusted. To do this, use a chamberlain - this is normal, the horse will not be hurt.
During the transition, keep an eye on your feelings. If you feel that the saddle is "leaving" to the left / right / forward / backward, immediately inform the instructor.
Keep an eye on the condition of the horse – legs (lameness), back (bumps, abrasions). If you see something, inform the instructor.
A horse is your best friend, companion and brother during a hike. Try to establish contact with her. So that you trust each other and there is mutual understanding between you – talk to the horse, praise, stroke, etc. It is well known that such attention is very pleasant for a horse! :)

It still does not fit in my head that this amazing journey really happened. That there were horse crossings under the sun and rain, there were dinners cooked together, there were songs without a guitar, but by the campfire and soulful... Now, upon arrival in Moscow, all this seems either a dream or a fairy tale. But it really was! And for this I would like to say a huge thank you to Olga and her team. Without you guys, I would never have discovered the self-willed and majestic Altai, would not have received these indescribable emotions, would not have fallen in love with equestrian tourism. Now it seems to be forever. My friend and I hadn't left Elekmonar yet when we started planning our inevitable return next summer. Be sure to come! Horses are very calm and hardy. The instructors are professional, reliable, very sociable and funny. Olga is an incredibly energetic enthusiast of her business. The routes are thoughtful and beautiful. Wait for us in 2020! ♥
