Trekking in North Ossetia. Digoria

So, the Digoria tour continues. It is impossible to relax in North Ossetia and not see the Bear Mountain, otherwise called Kubus.

Then, going out to the observation deck, travelers will admire the sloping Gobi gorge, the peaks of Aikhva and Laboda, as well as the charming Taimasi waterfalls – the triad of mother-of-pearl ribbons of these famous streams is visible even from afar and amazes with its pristine splendor. 

The three sisters, as the participants of the previous Digoria tours named Taymazi, have been flowing down the slopes of the Kharez Gorge for millions of years.

Excursions in the mountains of North Ossetia are an unforgettable adventure, and it continues: at the end of the day tour, we will go around the world, slowly bypass Kubus, delving into the wild and dense forest at the foot of the mountain.

Karaugom is one of the most famous in Digoria. He descends from Wilpata in two icefalls. 

The area of the glacier is impressive – about 20 square kilometers.

The tour to Karaugom starts from the village of Dzinaga and continues under the shade of ancient pine thickets. 

The eternal song of the Karaugomdon River accompanies the traveler almost all the way. 

The closer we get to the glacier, the more the uniqueness of the landscapes is visible – the contrast of vibrant nature and frozen ice blocks is surprising and fascinating. 

Karaugom is huge and formidable, it will chill anyone who dares to approach it.

This day's Digoria tour is dedicated to contemplative walks on a carpet of malachite moss, among majestic stone walls and masts of tall pines – in mountain Digoria, there is something to see!

The active part of the route: 13.8 km, altitude difference of 1550-1850 m, the duration of the route is 7-8 hours.

Today, tourists will find Digoria without backpacks – the tour route is easy, simple and does not require special equipment and physical training.

Galdoridon Waterfall is the pearl of the tour, a five-stage stream 35 meters high, located on the river of the same name.

To reach it, you will have to walk through a blooming meadow – there is a lot of fragrant ivan tea growing here.

Then the path will lead the traveler into the cool, forest shade and only then the noisy Galdoridon will open to the eyes of admiring tourists.

In addition to the generally accepted name, the participants of the tours of the national biosphere reserve "Alanya" gave the waterfall two more names – Zhemchuzhny and Kroshkin stream.

In the second case, the name is explained by a tragic story that happened here a few years ago, and in the first case, you don't need to invent anything, you just have to look at the sparkling Haldoridon!

But the tour is not completed: on the way there will be another stream – Buravidon.

It is noticeable from a distance, because it is quite high: the jets flowing down from the Sugan ridge are reflected by hundreds of multicolored sparks in sunny weather.

On this day, our exciting trekking tour to Digoria ends with a hike to the Bayradi waterfall.

This waterfall is sometimes called by the name of the river that feeds it – Hurakomidon, and sometimes it is called Noisy.

Both names suit the cheerful stream as well as possible.

Bayradi helps the river ribbon to leave the embrace of the Sugan ridge, plunging from a 20-meter cliff into the rocky mouth of the canyon.

A hike across North Ossetia to the Tana-tsete glacier is planned for today.

The tour route starts from the glade of the same name (remember, as in the fairy tale: "you will go to the right ..."). 

Passing the cyclopean stone, the roads split: one of them leads to the verdant, curly Kubus, and the second, accompanied by the Tanadon River, goes straight to the Tana-tsete glacier.

This time the tour involves maximum rapprochement: unlike Karaugom, we will get close to the ancient glacier and even have a tea party surrounded by breathtaking views! 

Tana tsete is located between two Digora peaks – Laboda and Taymazi. 

In summer, especially at the end of June and July, the local meadows dress up: forget-me-nots, pink mountaineers, and orange poppies look at travelers from everywhere. 

Against the background of a colorful natural flowerbed, framed by wooded mountains and snowy peaks, the glacier looks so unreal and unusual that it is almost impossible to look away from it. 

A tour to Digoria will not be complete without visiting this arrogant handsome man.

Excursions in the mountains of North Ossetia on off–road vehicles are a comfortable and exciting pastime. 

This way you can see more and get less tired, which is why jeep tours to Digoria are incredibly popular. 

The frigate tower and ancient Ossetian villages are the purpose of the current tour route. 

The building, which from a distance looks like a majestic stone sailboat, was built in the 14th and 16th centuries.

After breakfast, we set off on our way back.

12:30-13:30 – arrival in Mineralnye Vody (airport, bus station, railway station), departure home.
