Christmas and New Year celebration in the center of the Kola Peninsula in the village of Krasnoshchelye! This is a small village in the Murmansk region, which is unusual in that there is no land connection with other settlements. The main transport artery is the river. Perhaps that is why the pristine nature and original way of life of the Nenets villagers have been preserved here. By the way, a whole documentary film "Guardians of the Tundra" was even shot about this village!

The length of the route from Lovozero village and back is 280 km.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Transfer. Transfer to Krasnoshchelye village
Meeting guests at Murmansk airport (or Olenegorsk railway station) by car for an additional fee.
Transfer to Lovozero village (district center), upon arrival in Lovozero village.
Lunch at the cafe “At Mikhail's.”
Equipment (soviki / national clothes that are worn over jackets, felt boots, fur coats / mittens).
Briefing, departure to the route in a sleigh behind a snowmobile (behind one snowmobile there are two wooden sleighs with reindeer skins, each of them has 2 people + extra-large luggage).
On the route (not far from Lovozera village) there will be an opportunity to ride a reindeer sled on frozen lakes, you can pet the deer, feed them with bread, take pictures.
A thermos with hot tea/coffee and sandwiches are provided.
Upon arrival in Krasnoshchelye — accommodation in a guest house, dinner.

Day 2 - Excursion around the village
09:30 — breakfast.
10:30 — excursion around the village with a visit to the local history corner of Krasnoshchelskaya secondary school, the village library and the museum "Vazhya Olom"/The Life of antiquity.
14:00 — peasant lunch.
Those who wish can take part in the preparation of firewood for kindling stoves and bringing river water for a bath from an ice hole on a snowmobile sleigh.
While the bathhouse is being heated, we will hold national competitions — lasso throwing, sled jumping; photographing in the plague in national clothes with tea from a samovar on coals.
Sauna with birch and juniper brooms and lingonberry juice.
23:00 festive dinner in the living room, New Year's Eve with dances around the Christmas tree.
Day 3 - Ice fishing
Late breakfast.
Departure to the vast expanses of the North — to the lakes, for ice fishing, where, in addition to fishing, there will be an opportunity to independently install a kuvax made of pine poles, make a fire, melt a samovar with coals and dine according to the tradition of local fishermen with their stories, tales.
Upon our return, we will have a hot bath and evening pancake gatherings with tea from local herbs.
Day 4 - Meeting with a folklore group
9:30 a.m. — breakfast.
Going out to the village with a visit to the Orthodox church of St. Seraphim of Sarov, photographing with animals bred by parishioners.
Free time for skiing in the forest (if desired).
14:30 — peasant lunch.
17:00 — concert program of the Komi folk folklore collective "Digging kya"/Evening dawn/ at the ethnocultural center.
The exhibition "Kuzhan Ki" (with Komi "Skillful hands"), where it is possible to purchase products made of horn, deer bones, elk; knitting, soft toys, pickles.
20:00 — dinner from the cuisine of the Northern peoples.
Day 5 - Departure to the village of Lovozero
08:30 — breakfast, packing, the legendary tying of ribbons.
Departure to Lovozero village, where it is possible to visit the museum of local lore, buy souvenirs, fur products.
Lunch at Mikhail's cafe.
Departure to the airport /railway station.

The guest house has 3 bedrooms and a living room with wood-burning stoves.

One of the rooms has 2 wide beds and one 2-tier, heated washbasin.

The other two rooms have two 2—tier beds and a washbasin.

A rustic toilet on the street (there is a night room in the house), a sauna on the territory of the house.

The Izba-dining room (in retro style) is located 50 m from the guest house.

Thermal underwear made of thin polartek
Sweatpants made of thick polartek (fleece), a sweatshirt made of thick fleece, preferably with a "throat" or a sweatshirt or a thick sweater
Down sweater (thin single-layer down jacket) under a jumpsuit OR a normal down jacket on top of a jumpsuit in case of severe cold weather. You can use a ski jacket or a jumpsuit
Sweatpants for staying in guest houses

Ski gloves + fleece gloves
A ski cap, if there is one, a balaclava, if not, we provide.
The scarf is warm, if there is a windproof mask on the face. The balaclavas provided by the organizers cover your face well from the cold, but we recommend that you have additional protection.
Downy climbing slippers (highly recommended, rubber slippers for the bath, a personal bath towel (almost everywhere in guest houses they provide, but it is advisable to have your own.
If you know that your lower back is stiffening, then take with you something warming like a scarf, shawl
Personal hygiene kit (brush, paste, etc.)
Cold face cream.
Personal first aid kit (if there is a need for special medicines)
Ski mask - worn on top of the helmet (the combination of helmet and ski mask is most optimal for long-distance snowmobile trips)
Sunglasses
A small (up to 30 liters) shoulder backpack helps to keep your back warm, in addition, you can put small items you need on the road in it
Some participants of our tours recommend taking their own small thermoses for tea, it happens that someone does not have enough to drink on the route
Chocolates, nuts, sweets are also often not superfluous

If you have poor eyesight. Glasses are not allowed on the route – they immediately sweat and freeze. Use contact lenses or special ski goggles with diopters. The organizers will not be able to provide you with such equipment.
