An interesting journey through the Northern Urals to one of the wonders of Russia – the Manpupuner plateau. Along the road there are pristine forests dotted with pristine lakes, rivers and endless mountain tundra. 

You will visit the Dyatlov Pass and see with your own eyes the place of the tragedy of 60 years ago. The hike is long, intense and passes through the most beautiful places of the Ural Mountains.

Route thread: Ivdel city – Auspiya River – Dyatlov Pass – Otorten Mountain (1234 meters) – Yanighachehakhl Mountain (1024 meters) — Pechora River — Manpupuner ridge – Pechora River – traverse of the Main Ural ridge in the opposite direction – Auspiya River – Ivdel city.

Itinerary

  • Day 1 - Meeting, drop-off to the village of Ushma, the way along the Auspiya river

    (150 km by car, 7 km on foot with backpacks)

    The meeting of the group at the railway station Ivdel (Sverdlovsk region) at 3:00 — 4:00.

    This time is determined by the arrival time of the train. 

    To get on this train, you need to purchase tickets for it in advance and get to Yekaterinburg by train or plane. And from the Yekaterinburg railway station go to Ivdel.

    Transfer to an all-terrain vehicle of the type "Ural", "GAZ66".

    Transfer to the village of Ushma (6-7 hours).

    On the way, we enjoy the picturesque landscapes of the Northern Urals from the window. 

    We will prepare lunch upon arrival.

    We will walk along the Auspiya River for about 7 km and camp early, because the day was quite difficult.

    Meals: lunch, dinner.

It's important to know

Personal equipment you need for the tour

The hike is a trekking with backpacks, where we carry food, personal and public equipment on ourselves. Therefore, you need a good physical shape and a comfortable backpack with a hard back and a wide waist belt.

It is also necessary to be mentally prepared for the difficulties associated with changing weather conditions. From warm sunny weather to strong wind and cold rain. You need to pay as much attention to your equipment as possible.

The weight of public equipment and food ranges from 5 to 7 kg per person. Calculate the weight of your personal belongings!

Equipment:

  • backpack 80-100 L (hard back, comfortable and wide waist belt) + small lightweight backpack for radial exits;
  • a cape for a backpack from the rain;
  • travel mat;
  • Sleeping bag (comfort temperature 0/-5);
  • trekking poles (preferably with clicklock or flicklock clips);
  • a seat with an elastic band (hob).

Clothing and shoes:

  • trekking boots (ankle is fixed, thick sole). we wear new shoes 10 days before the hike! plus brodniks, chevers or ugc stockings to overcome fords;
  • sports sandals or slates for the camp;
  • gaiters / "lanterns" (worn over boots, protect from dew and debris);
  • raincoat (not polyethylene) or membrane suit;
  • running suit (better according to the type of encephalitis with a mesh);
  • insulated jacket;
  • fleece jacket;
  • thermal underwear (moisture-wicking);
  • lingerie;
  • T-shirt or long sleeve shirt;
  • 2 T-shirts (preferably synthetic);
  • panama hat with mesh, cotton gloves, fleece cap;
  • trekking socks (2-3 pairs, synthetic).

What else to take:

  • dishes (plate, mug, spoon, knife — not ceramic, matches in hermetically sealed);
  • personal hygiene products;
  • first aid kit is personal, in case of chronic diseases (the instructor will have a public first aid kit with a standard set of medicines) + elastic bandage, sterile bandage — 2 pcs., chlorhexidine in small. in a bottle, a rolled patch on a fabric base, wide;
  • headlamp + set of spare batteries;
  • a set of threads with a needle;
  • lipstick is hygienic;
  • thermos flask (0.5 -0.7 l);
  • individual 0.5l water bottle;
  • 2 liters of breadcrumbs;
  • mosquito and midge repellents 1 can (better than deta);
  • personal pocket snack (nuts, bars).
