Elbrus. Climbing from the South

The hike will take almost the whole day.

Two hours after leaving, we will approach the waterfall Maiden Spit 2700 meters.

Continuing the ascent along the dirt road, we will climb to the Terskol Observatory, an altitude of 3100 meters.

Excellent viewpoint on Elbrus, Cheget, Donguz-Orun.

There is a long rest stop, lunch and descent to the hotel or camping.

Acclimatization ascent, the ascent takes place first along a trail in a pine forest, then along a dirt road among alpine meadows and along the trail of a rocky ridge.

On the way we will make rest stops, at the cable car station there is a cafe with excellent pies and tea from sea buckthorn and barberry.

We go down the dirt road.

The height of the Cheget is 3461 meters, the climb is 1400 meters, the duration of the ascent is 5-6 hours, the descent is 3 hours.

The peak is located above the village of Terskol, it offers excellent views of both Elbrus and the Main Caucasian Ridge.

We climb a path in the forest, then along a grassy slope and along a scree ridge.

Technically, the ascent is more difficult than climbing Cheget, this serves as a good preparation for the subsequent ascent of Elbrus.

The height of the Itkol peak is 3531 meters, the climb is ~ 1500 meters, the duration of the ascent is 5-6 hours, the descent is 2-3 hours.

From the Azau glade, we will take the new cable car up to the Gara-bashi station at a height of 3850 m.

We move into a shelter (or tents), the best and most comfortable on Elbrus, next to the MTS cellular tower (mobile Internet), electricity around the clock, heaters in 4-bed rooms, separate kitchens and dining rooms.

We go out on the glacier and learn to walk in cats, climb up to the beginning of the rocky ridge, the location of the former Shelter of the Eleven.

Physical activity is minimal, the way up takes about 1 hour, down 30 minutes. 

The main acclimatization exit.

The ascent to the Pastukhov rocks is 4700 meters, the task is at least, it is desirable to climb to the "abandoned snowmobile" height of 4950 meters.

We go light, with only hot tea, energy food and a warm jacket in the backpack.

This day will show how ready we are to climb.

The duration of the ascent is 5-6 hours, the descent takes ~ 2 hours.

A day of rest before the summit assault.

In the morning, a walk combined with snow and ice classes.

We will work out how to use an ice axe, a rope, how to walk in bundles.

We are collecting backpacks and climbing equipment.

We go to bed early.

Exit to the summit at midnight.

The dawn at an altitude of 5000 meters is unforgettable. 

The ascent will take about 10 hours. 

After climbing, descend to the shelter and to the hotel. 

It is possible to drop a group or part of a group on a snowmobile or snowmobile (not included in the price). 

If the weather is good and the ascent has already been done, you can arrange an excursion to the Chegem waterfalls, thermal springs or horseback riding (excursions are paid separately).

You can just relax, walk through the local souvenir markets, visit the Narzan Meadow or the Terskol waterfall.

The tour ends, the participants are awarded branded certificates of perfect ascent.
